Ban the Paper Receipt!
No commentsUntil now I haven’t thought about it but today i was asked to give an opinion on paper receipts and instantly it hit me! These things are a freakin pain in my arse! The more and more i think about it I actually start getting angered about the issue. I buy a soda, I get a receipt. I get a carwash, I get a receipt. Groceries, sometimes I get like 5 receipts. Granted there are some coupons on the backside of them but in all reality i may have used one of those coupons no more than 1 time in my whole life!
These paper receipts are useless. Doesnt my bank statement track my spending? Answer, Yes! I can see all my receipts right there and on my credit card statements. My Amex card for that matter has a feature that actually categorizes my spending into useful little folders too.
I wonder what uses more paper….
All the receipts that get handed out around the world or paper grocery bags? hmmmm- i bet its close!
Approximately 2,278 lbs of trash is produced while producing a single ton of receipt paper. This means 1,457,920,000 lbs of trash are being fed into our landfill. This produces enough CO2 emissions to significantly damage the earth’s ozone layer, leading to global warming.
What are your thoughts?
