Students in New York Get Serious on Recycling

It’s always awesome to hear about young people striving to make a difference in the environment, and this is no different: twenty students at Irvington Middle School made a profound impact on recycling awareness in their suburban New York neighborhood by collecting over 32,000 plastic bags to take in for recycling.

Westchester County Executive Andy Spano said he’ll praise the efforts of the Irvington Middle School students at a special assembly on Thursday. The plastic bags will be piled up in the auditorium for all to see.

The students in question are part of the school’s Pay It Forward Club, and earned their publicity by collecting more bags than any other school in the county. Keep up the good work, Irvington!
