The South Pacific Gets Environmental

With the support of neighboring Bank of Hawaii behind them, Pay-Less Markets (of the Guamanian supermarket variety, not the U.S. shoe store variety) are injecting a little bit of excitement into their quest to get consumers to switch to reusable bags, with a month full of potential starting this coming Friday.
Each time you use a “Pay-Less Goes Green” reusable bag, you get an entry form for a chance to win prizes, according to a news release from Pay-Less Markets.
Prizes include a Pay-Less shopping spree, a chance to “Grab the Green” in the Bank of Hawaii money machine, an energy saving washing machine from Townhouse and a gas grill from Benson’s.
In addition, Pay-Less will continue to offer a five-cent rebate to any customer bringing in a reusable bag (any reusable bag, not just the Pay-Less brand) instead of expecting disposables. Executives have high hopes for this campaign — already, since the store’s Pay-Less Goes Green campaign and subsequent rebate were launched in February, nearly 40,000 disposable bag-free transactions were recorded. So, rock on Guam! By keeping your priorities straight and making them fun in the meantime, you truly are pioneers.
